Mandate - Ethics of Biomedical & Health Research involving Human Participants
- To serve as an ethics advisory unit of ICMR, its network of Institutions in India and Department of Health Research, MOHFW, Govt of India.
- To guide development and timely updation of national ethical guidelines, policies, reports, other supplementary documents and tools in relevant areas in order to address ethical aspects of biomedical and health research.
- To serve as the secretariat for the Central Ethics Committee on Human Research (CECHR) and carry out ethics review of nationally important complex issues / research studies referred to it from the ICMR networks.
- To promote, ethical conduct of research, improve communication and build capacity of ethical review in institutions across the country.
- To collaborate and create networks with National and International agencies/institutes for building policy and undertaking research in the areas of ethics related to biomedical research.
